About Us

Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five to seven have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high-quality teaching together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.

Once you step in through our doors at TLS, our teachers teach and communicate to all the students in ENGLISH (British mainly). Your child will mostly be taught through games and play but we also believe in developing independence which is achieved by having a clear routine.

The areas of learning we focus on are:

  • communication and language
  • physical development
  • personal, social and emotional development
  • literacy
  • mathematics
  • understanding the world
  • expressive arts and design

As part of a flexible curriculum, your daughter or son will be encouraged to explore and develop at his or her own pace in activities based around each of these areas.

Communication and language

The daily schedule is designed in such a way that your child will learn to develop listening to others and strengthen his or her focusing ability. Your child will learn how to follow instructions involving several ideas or actions and ask and answer questions.

We encourage students to articulate themselves, talking clearly about what is happening now, what happened in the past and looking ahead to future events.

Physical development

At this age, your child’s physical development is increasing quickly. At TLS, your child will work on movement in a variety of ways through Dance, Games and Sports. They will also develop their use of tools such as pencils, scissors, ruler and cutlery.

We encourage students to grow independence in terms of health and self-care, for example washing their hands before every meal and putting on their hats and shoes before going outside.

Personal, social and emotional development

In this prime area of development, your child will be taught how to make and develop relationships with adults and other children.

She or he will build on their growing self-confidence and self-awareness and develop their ability to manage feelings and behaviour.

Literacy

We use a specially crafted program designed by a licenced EYFS teacher from the UK who helps make sure TLS students learn phonics, letter formation and initial writing. By the end of your child’s experience at TLS, they are ready to graduate with a strong
phonological understanding in:

• reading and understanding simple sentences
• decoding regular words and reading them aloud
• writing words and simple sentences

Mathematics

Your child will learn the basics of numbers, along with shape, space and measure. Students at TLS will learn to count (up to 100 and above), place numbers in order and carry out simple addition and subtraction (with some introduction to multiplication and division).

Your child will also gain an understanding of concepts such as time, date, weight, distance, size and money.

Understanding the world

Students at TLS will learn about different people, communities and cultures, helping to understand the world around them and an introduction to the role technology plays in our daily life.

Your child will learn to examine the similarities and differences between places, objects, materials and living things.

Expressive arts and design

Students at TLS will have lots of opportunities to explore different media and materials and to use their own imagination to develop and create. Students will also sing songs, make music, dance and develop their own unique rhythm.

We seek to provide:

  • quality and consistency in all early years settings, so that every child makes good progress and no child gets left behind
  • a secure foundation through learning and development opportunities which are planned around the needs and interests of each individual child and are assessed and reviewed regularly
  • partnership working between teachers and with parents and/or carers
  • equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice, ensuring that every child is included and supported.

Our 5 overarching principles:

The five guiding principles which we use to shape our practices when educating children in the early years program are:

  1. every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured
  2. children learn to be strong and independent through the positive relationships built with their teachers and parents and/or carers
  3. children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between TLS teachers and parents and/or carers
  4. children develop and learn in different ways and at different speeds. At TLS we are always looking at the developments in the age-old discussion of “Nature vs. Nurture” and finding ways to support children with special educational and emotional needs.
  5. parents and/or carers need our support, expertise and knowledge in learning about different cultures, speaking in English, educating, playing and supporting their child or children’s development.
